How do you make big creative decisions?
When you start writing a book, it can feel like swimming in a big, deep lake. The expanse of infinite uncertainty can be overwhelming and make you feel small—but it can also be liberating and exciting.
As you get closer to finishing your project, the choices you make begin to limit that expansiveness. That abundance of creative possibility narrows, and the lake funnels into a stream. The water is moving faster now, and you gain momentum as you write.
At this point, you have new creative opportunities to make strategic decisions.
The flow is not a problem. Recognizing how the flow moves is the important part. Let your energy shift to match where you are in your story. Approach the changes you’re considering openly and with flexibility.
Commit to your creative decisions and see them through.Use your imagination and trust your intuition. The “correctness” of your creative choices comes from your state of mind.
Trust yourself.
Remember that your state of mind is at its best when it’s calm, creative, and curious.
