The best way to complain is to make things.

spider web in flowers

A long long time ago, spiders crawled over the earth, and they ate lots of insects.

Because the insects needed to escape the spiders that were eating them, they began to grow wings.

Now the spiders were hungry, and they needed to catch flying insects. What the? So after they complained about this big problem for a while, the spiders eventually learned how to make sticky webs, so they could catch flies.

Ever since I read about the evolution of spiderwebs, I can’t stop thinking about it!

We have the force of nature working inside us. We innately know how to transform, transfigure, and create.

Do you feel connected to this force when you make decisions?

There’s a tonne of stuff out there that’s just… not good. Systems that are broken, relationships that are dysfunctional, leadership that’s inhumane. Drivers text on the highway, frozen Ziplock bags shed microplastics, and there’s no collective trend for us to follow this summer. Things are falling apart. Coldplay is the most popular band in the world.

Okay! Now what?

It’s okay to complain for a minute, because it helps you understand the nature of the problem. Then, you get deliberate.

Reality check: You’re an emotional, mental, physical, and energetic creature that has the force of nature working through you. This special power is designed to work interdependently with other creative and curious human (and more-than-human) beings. You’re here to expand, learn and create new things.

We are the insects learning how to fly. We are the spiders learning how to knit.

You see something that’s not working?

Make new stuff.

Here’s how: follow your intuition. Logic and rational thought will regularly attempt to override your creative impulses. And you can deliberately turn toward the direction of your curiosity instead.

Joseph Nguyen, author of Don’t Believe Everything You Think, writes that “Your intuition is the choice that feels most expansive, aligned, and unknown. It is always calm, clear, direct, and unattached.”

Get to know the energy and sensation of your intuition, and choose to cultivate it right now.

Trust the force of nature you are, and take the next step.
