Tammy Evans has been a Story Intensive teacher, and has been a strong leader in our Centered community for years, where she first offered her Unpublished to Published course to our members. Now she is bringing this course to writers outside of that circle.
Going from unpublished to published is a real transformation. Tammy’s course will clear away any fog or overwhelm you have about the submission process, and give you the knowledge, motivation, and momentum you need to get your work published this year.
If you are ready to take the next step in your visibility as a writer, join this course. The first lesson drops April 20th!
As writers, we are creating new stories all the time. We motivate each other to finish our drafts and revisions. After we finish writing a story, we get to decide where and how we want to share it.
For some writers, that means emailing it to someone they love.
For some writers, that means posting it on social media or in their newsletter.
For some writers, that means submitting it for publication.
If sharing your writing with a wider audience is one of your writing goals, join Unpublished to Published today.
I developed this submissions course after my self-directed 100 Submissions Challenge, because the writers in my circles wanted to know more about how to submit their work.
If you’re new to publishing or want a refresher, these 8 lessons will teach you what you need to know to get your writing published.
Publishing short fiction and poetry is a subjective process, but there are some guidelines you need to learn before you take the time to share your writing with the world.
I will lead you through all 8 lessons: you’ll learn where your writing fits, the important actions to take when submitting, how to write a cover letter and bio, how to track your submissions, and more!
Each week for 8 weeks, you’ll get a lesson with content to learn, journaling questions, and action steps. We’ll meet on Zoom to share our experience, and I’ll answer any questions you may have. We will complete the course with a submission party, where everyone can submit a piece during the hour!
Writer Bio and Cover Letters:
Learn what needs to be in a bio and where to use yours, even if you have not published before.
Where Do I Submit My Work?
Learn how to find the best places to send your writing.
This workshop emphasizes play and exploration, and provides a supportive environment where you can experiment with new ideas without the pressure to be perfect. Through hands-on practice, feedback, and creative collaboration, you’ll leave with a toolkit of strategies to add to your practice that will help you craft immersive moments that captivate and engage your audience.
This is an eight-week course beginning on Sunday, April 20 and running until Sunday, June 8th, 2025. Class is in session Monday through Wednesday; students are encouraged to visit the classroom at their convenience during each week’s three-day window.
Each week you’ll reflect, learn a critical attribute for publishing, and have a task to complete to get you one step closer from being unpublished to published.
You’ll read lecture notes, join a group discussion online, and participate in tasks related to publishing.
You’ll be asked to complete an action building off that week’s lesson.
At the end of the course, you’ll have a chance to submit a piece at a Submission Celebration.
Over the course of eight weeks, we’ll draw inspiration from various art forms to help shape our writing with newfound creativity.
Each week we will get the chance to practice what we have learned and explore something new. Each lesson will consist of reflections questions, critical attributes and action steps. We will follow up with Zoom calls to ask questions and discuss our processes.

No! You do not need a completed draft to begin. One of our lessons focuses on finishing your work so it’s ready for submission. Many students complete the course with a clearer understanding of which pieces they’re ready to submit and how to take the next steps. If you have questions about your current work, we’ll explore them in the early weeks and help you refine your process.
We will dedicate time to exploring how to find the best places for your work to be published. This can feel overwhelming, but together we’ll break it down, explore options, and guide you to venues where your work has the best chance of being noticed.
It’s all part of the creative evolution, and the structure of this course will help you move past any confusion or stalls and keep you moving forward.
Not at all! You don’t need prior publishing experience to succeed in this course. We’ll cover how to write a compelling author bio even if you haven’t been published yet. This course is the perfect reset to help you take that first step toward getting your work out into the world.
Yes! I’ve had many repeat students, and I truly believe that learning is a process. There will be aspects of the course that are more relevant to you now than when you first took it. You’ll walk away with fresh insights and new tools.
I offer discovery calls for anyone who wants to dive deeper before committing to the course. During the call, we’ll discuss any questions you have about the program and make sure it’s the right fit for you. My availability is limited, so be sure to snag one here if you’d like to chat!
