People have been asking me to offer a winter Story Intensive for years. This year, we can finally do it!
Is 2016 your year?
There’s really no better way to start writing than to start writing.
I don’t say that to put pressure on you; I say it in the hopes that it liberates you.
The Story Intensive is beloved by students and instructors alike. We love it so much, we are offering it again this February.
This is the same life-changing creative writing program: sixteen weeks of writing, breathing, and dreaming about story and style. An immersive experience, living a writer’s life. Exquisite attention and feedback from writers who guide you through your resistance and steer you back to your curiosity.
I adore this program. I’m awed by what happens in the classrooms, every single year. It really is a special, transformative place to learn.
Magic happens. Characters appear. Stories are written. Lives are changed.
It’s fun and gratifying, but it’s not easy breezy. Any one of the students from the 2015 graduating class will tell you that this program takes work.
But if you’re a writer, this is the kind of work that truly lights you up.
It’s important to know that this is a smaller semester, and there aren’t as many spots available as there were last fall. We aren’t doubling the size of our graduating class — we are keeping it small, and sharing the love over two semesters.
I hope that this will make your learning experience even more tailored to fit your life and schedule.
Registration is open now and closes January 29th. Six groups are available, with room for six or seven students in each group.
Lasting relationships are made in these groups, and that connection is so important for writers! Writing is a solitary act, but it helps so much when you can work alone, together. The Story Intensive might be the exact scaffolding that you need for your writing right now.
I know it’s is a big financial commitment and time commitment. If you have questions, or would like to ask me about what it can offer you specifically, I invite you to meet me at one of these two special events:

I will be online Monday, January 25th between

Feedback from The Story Intensive Class of 2015:
“What a fantastic course! I find myself recommending it to other writer friends of mine all the time.”
“Thank you for making this class available! What a gift to learn and participate with a community of writers from across the world from the comfort of my own home. The high caliber of exercises and reading materials were both challenging and informative and encouraged me to take myself seriously as a writer. In taking this class I truly felt like a student of the craft. This has also been a wonderfully supportive environment. I am so glad that I was able to participate!”
“The quality of the care and nurturing that our TA provided was sincerely a gift. Alongside everything that the well-constructed course outline and material package provides, the TA was the portal, the key to the passage. Daphne was a light for us all. Deft with insight, kind with critical opinion. I still feel like I’m waiting for the next class to start on Monday. It’s hard to have it over.”
