Important news about the Story Intensive!

notebook

What a few weeks it’s been. At the Victoria Festival of Authors, I tried reading some new scenes from Radiant Shimmering Light, just to see how they’d land for the audience. It was… ILLUMINATING.

Talking with my readers has been fascinating; I never know what’s coming next. I thought that people would be asking me questions, and I’d have to come up with good answers. What this tour has been teaching me to do instead: stay present and listen to the stories readers want to share with me.

A strident academic confessed to me quietly that she reads Eckhart Tolle before bed. Tearfully, another writer told me that she used to be in a cult, and that it wasn’t all bad, but she can’t talk to her friends what she loved about it. One reader told me that she felt sick after reading my novel, and proceeded to remove social media apps from her phone.

It seems that people want to tell me things, and it’s a privilege to listen to their stories.

But before I forget, there is another reason for this blog post!

⚡️ IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT OUR PROGRAMMING ⚡️

Heads up: I have to fill you in on the new registration structure we’re rolling out for the Story Intensive 2019.

Registration is open now, and the new deadline is June 1st, 2019. This is much earlier in the year than ever before.

Here's why:

1. It gives a sense of calm.

The Story Intensive is not an impulse buy. You grow with it — it teaches you how to build a sustainable writing life. This isn’t a 30-day challenge. It builds a new state of mind, a new way of being a writer.

Registration used to close just before the start of class. Honestly, this makes the teachers a little stressed out, it makes us a little stressed out, and it pressures you into making a last-minute life-changing decision.

That kind of hustle is not in line with the way I teach, so we’re not doing it anymore.

2. It’s much better for your budget.

Second, this early date means you can register right now, today! And that gives you much more time to budget for the program through the year. You can even set up a special customized payment plan if you like. Taking the Intensive shouldn’t have to be a big financial decision that you make at the end of summer, when your arms are already full of popsicles and sunblock!

3. It gives more time for intention and preparation.

If you’ve been thinking about it already, you understand that the Story Intensive is a writing program that asks you to plan ahead. It wants you to make time and space for it (that’s part of the fun). Registering early makes your writing that much more a part of your life, every day — starting now.

4. You can talk to me before class starts.

If you know this is something that you want to do and you think this might be your year, I want to help you plan and psychologically prepare for it. I’m holding a special mentorship and advice live call for writers who register for the Story Intensive 2019 before April.

This preparation call is something I do with my Intensive teachers and writing friends regularly. Writers rely on each other, and I want to start you off right. It helps to talk to someone who can listen to your doubts, help you rise above them, and support you in setting a solid intention.

This will help you make time and space for your writing life way before next September.

5. This gives you more options.

The early coaching call is available if you know you want to sign up now for next year’s Story Intensive.

It’s not compulsory.

You can wait until next spring to register, but please put this date in your calendar so you don’t forget:

Registration for the Story Intensive 2019 closes June 1, 2019.

If you’re thinking about doing the Story Intensive 2019, start planning ahead for it now.

And if you’d like to talk to me to see if this is the right program for you, make an appointment during my Intensive office hours. I’m going to be available most Mondays for Intensive questions.
